Closing Out Black History Month & the Month of Love With Intention
As February comes to an end, I wanted to do something simple — but meaningful.
So we’re walking.
On February 28th at 9AM, Nurtured Fit is hosting a community wellness walk at Reedy Creek Park (Lot 4, near the lakes). Nothing extreme. Nothing intimidating. Just movement with purpose.
February is known as the Month of Love and Black History Month. Both hold deep significance.
And when you really think about it, walking has always symbolized more than exercise.
Walking has represented:
• Freedom
• Protest
• Discipline
• Courage
• Progress
During the Montgomery Bus Boycott, thousands opted to walk miles daily rather than ride segregated buses. From Selma to Montgomery, walking became a form of resistance. The March on Washington wasn’t just a gathering — it was a movement.
Walking has always meant forward motion.
So this walk is about that. Walking for those who walked before us. Walking for self-love. Walking for heart health. Walking for community.
This will be a relaxed 1–2 mile walk, with a half-mile turnaround option for families, older adults, or anyone who simply wants a lighter pace.
Because movement should feel accessible — not intimidating.
You don’t have to jog. You don’t have to perform. You just have to show up.
As we close the Month of Love, I invite you to love yourself enough to move your body.
Forward is forward.
